Lee Roy Selmon's existence is a combination of football scholarship, family work and involvement in the community. First family he is the youngest of the nine children of Lucious the Jessie and Lucious Selmon. They grew up on a farm in Eufala, Oklahoma. In football, he was with three of his brothers from Oklahoma. Three brothers all made All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey, Lee Roy, and Lucious Jr. Dewey started the 1973 season. Lee Roy was named the top offensive lineman in nation by the Outland as well as Lombardi Awards. The three years he was an offensive lineman, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 and also won two championships at the national level. A third scholarship saw him named a National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon obtained a degree as an educator. Lee Roy was involved in volunteer work ten hour per week throughout his college years. In Tampa the Buccaneers, he was a player for the Buccaneers for nine seasons, and eventually became an all-pro. Additionally, he started an entrepreneurial career. In 1988, he was an Account Representative for Tampa's First Florida Bank. He was also involved with these organisations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It's no wonder that The Junior Chamber of Commerce designated Lee Roy as one of the most prominent young men across the nation. Lee Roy weighed 256 lbs and was a tall of 6-2. While he was in college, he commanded the 1975 team. He joined his current position at University of South Florida as an associate director of athletics. He was named to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1988. He was also named to the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994, and then the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. The Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation presented an award of the Distinguished American Award for 1989 to Lucious Selmon Sr. The award ceremony was conducted by Henry Bellmon govenor of Oklahoma.
